My vote would have to go to Goblet of Fire. Pretty long, which gave me something to do for a while, plus its rather...action-y.

Yeah, GOF is definitely the best one. I liked how the storyline started to get darker and more "adult".

Everyone has told me that Goblet of Fire was the best of all those...I just finished the second book, and I'm starting to become a big fan

OotP was a drag. It was just...like she ran out of ideas. I liked GoF - for the reasons CandyB mentioned.

Hahaha...what can I say, I like my books ;D The 4th book was amazing...But I liked the first the best...I'm not sure why...I always like the books where the main character discovers that he's something special...That's why Pawn of Prophecy is my favourite book in The Belgariad...That sense of discovery the main character experiences has always interested me EBP: Merged double post.

My vote is kind of a tie between Goblet of Fire and Chamber of Secrets. Goblet of Fire was, as Apekiller said, long, action-y, and just plain entertaining. I thought Chamber of Secrets was pretty good too. It's got more of a horror story feel than the others. The evil hidden chamber and the death-gazing snake and the blood writing on the wall was just a creepy/cool idea. (kinda wasted in a Harry Potter book, but still cool, in my opinion.)

Well, he did discover that he was a sorceror later on, but he still discovered that he was part of something huge...Which was cool.

ok so it made me cry but I have issues involving plagerism! as in she does it! I know we must make allowances for artistic license but some of it was just a bit obviously taken from elsewere.

What parts are we talking about exactly, and from which books?

Dementers =Nazgul Acromantula =Shelob
and those are the ones she's admitted!

Meh... the dementors don't rip off the Nazgul anywhere near as much as the Myrdraal in The Wheel of Time. Of course, another consideration where Harry Potter is concerned is that almost none of the creatures in it are Rowling's own original creation... most of them are taken from somewhere in the realm of folklore and mythology, although she does put her own spin on some of them.

You also then have to look at "UBOS" it's an american show about *dumdumdummmm* -a really smart witch girl -wise cracking boy of magical decent (he's an elf) -boy with special future who has human parents
Together with their mentor (book who was a benovalent wizard) they fight to foil a dark wizard who once stood on the brink of world domination!
sound familier?

I've never heard of it, but yes, some of those things do sound familiar. Enelya, if what you're looking for in a fantasy novel is something completely unfamiliar, NEVAR read my work.
