The second one was more "action-y" for you, Ape. Third one's coming 2009, according to IMDB. It's also a prequel, though I haven't decided yet whether that's a good thing or a bad thing.

=P It was more action-y, yes, its too bad that i'm a fan of non-action-ness now. Actually, I don't mind action, so long as it isn't pointless explosions that serve no purpose except to be used in the movie trailer to make it seem more exciting. I'm not sure how I feel about it being a prequal either. I'd prefer the current storyline to continue a little further, but then again, i'm interested in the earlier history too. *shrug*

Yeah, finding out more about Lucian will be interesting. Michael Sheen kicks ass in that role, too.

I've been seeing the commercials for the new one. I'd go see it, if I had a car that worked......

Man, does that movie kick ass. And it's about twice as bloody as the other two, so you'd probably love it. Kind of a downer, though, as most prequels tend to be.

Who else is in the film like any of the original characters other than I believe its selena or something like that?

Actually, Selene's not in it... Sonja, the new (old?) female lead, just looks like her (actually a plot point in the first film). But that's a different actress and everything in the trailer.
Lucian, Viktor and Raze are the returning characters that I remember... everyone else is new, I believe.

The special effects didn't seem crappy to me, but I think they were CGI. Just better quality than Sci-Fi Channel movies (though I like those movies, despite the occasional special effects failure).

occasional special effects failure. Occasional failure? Have they ever had a special effects success? I honestly don't think I've evers een a Sci-Fi movie that didn't have some of the worst special effects I've ever seen. I can stand bad special effects if the story is good...but I got tired of giant spiders/snakes/crocodiles 5 years ago.

I used to like them too, it just got old. Every giant spider movie is exactly the same, the only difference being how they got into some dangerous chemical that made them grow so huge. Sometimes it's a biohazardous material spill, sometimes it's an accident in a lab, but either way, I've seen it a million times. And the special effects are always terrible. The only giant snake/spider/crocodile movie that doesn't suck is Anaconda. Lake Placid was pretty decent too. But those aren't made-for-TV sci-fi crap-fests.

If you're looking for something different along the same genre lines (with slightly better effects than a Sci-Fi Channel movie, though not as good as Anaconda), check out Aberration ( www.imdb.com/title/tt0123371/). It's about non-giant mutant lizards, and features quite a bit of blood (especially toward the end).
