I am part of this RP community and at the end of the week based on how well you RP people win matches against other people (its fighting rps) Someone brought up the coming elections on the OOC board and my friend replyed saying she was a Kerry fan. People nit picked at her about it so she stopped posting. So, i picked up the slack heh and some guy says he doesn't care what i think because i can't vote. i told him i had a frigging right to express my opinion and he replys back with "no one listens to the youth of America" ugh! It ticked me off...but listen, it gets better!! SO i'm a lazy bum so i didn't rp this week, but my friend did. Only three people out of maybe 30 people actually posted an Rp and hers was the best. BUT because she was a Kerry fan they made it so that she lost. THAT PISSES ME OFF! My friend has a "vote for Kerry" sign in her yard and some people decided to spray that stringy Halloween stuff on it. Now i see tons of people with Bush signs in their yards, but i don't see Kerry fans doing asinine BS like that grrr! Also i got bitched out today at Chess club(yes i'm on the chess team) for calling Bush a douche. Wait, why get upset if he really isn't one? Are u guys hiding something? Im just ranting because politics is friggin stupid!! Should i get beheaded for not liking Bush? NOPE cuz this is the U S of A, bitches and i can do that!! As long as i don't do it on foreign soil *points at the dixie chicks* but yeah...that was my day

I agree with pretty much everything you said. And I was in Chess club, too.

-=would've been in Chess club if his school had it=-
Republicans get defensive about people calling Bush unbased names for the same reason you'd get mad if I called you a dirty, cock-loving whore.
Republicans aren't the only ones silly-stringing posters. Everyone does. I had this discussion with my Mom today. I can't stand it when people make generalizations based on political sway. "Republicans are anal-rapists and Democrats are gays." Both wrong, but both something I can imagine hearing when someone's angry or something. It's just...dumb.

I think its all retarded personally. Everyone has their own beliefs, and the right to express them. Anyone who doesn't like that needs to move to a communistic country. So what if I don't like Kerry and would vote for Bush if I could even vote? If anyone has a problem with that, that's just too damn bad ain't it? I'm not about to go T.P. someone's yard just because they're voting for Kerry, cuz its not gonna make them switch who they vote for. So what's the point of harrassing people if its not gonna change their minds? Its just stupid.

Not only that, but it makes the people who do it -- and, by association, the Republican party -- look very unsympathetic, seeing as how it's a tactic the KKK would use.

Hey...like I said, Democrats do the same things, just in different ways. Don't pretend we're the only ones being jack-asses, here.

Point in case about everyone being douche bags: On election day, the Republican party had 30 "Get out the Vote" vehicles get their tires slashed.
Hooray for America.

It was a smart political move. The results showed that. Democrats has fair reason to whine in 2000, and it wasn't because of the electoral college. That one is just easier to explain to the average person. Numerous Democrats were disenfranchised, and most, but not all, showed that if the court had allowed the recount to proceed Gore would have won. The court, in my opinion, had no jurisdiction over the state voting system in this case. I respect the power of the judicial branch. In fact, it's probably used more here in Canada than the U.S., but state laws said that a recount should have happened given how close the race was. The fact that the court stopped the proceedings anyway is baffling. The main problem is that America does not believe in 'non-partisan'. The closest we see is 'bipartisan', like in the 9/11 commission. In the Commonwealth, there are actually non-partisan election committees that deal with things like constituency division and recounts. We can't prove that they're non-partisan, but pretty much every has faith in the system. No parties raise objections to the committee, and Canada has some of the fairest constituency division in the world. On the other hand, the party that controls the state legislature gets to make the election rules in the U.S., which is what results in huge gerrymandering and is why only 30 seats in the House of Representatives were even 'contended' this time around. It is also why the 9/11 commission was so ineffective in coming up with a strong cohesive strategy for preventing it from happening again. Bipartisan rancor took any statement that had any edge to it, which left a shell of empty suggestions that aren't going to save any lives.
