They forgot a comma. Damn them. Yes, I saw fit to create an entire thread for this. Huzzah.

The people who made the coddamned smiley. That's right. Coddamned. Not Goddamned. Coddamned.

It says "HEY SHADDUP" when it shoudl read "HEY, SHADDUP." To show you again, it should say "HEY (insert comma here) SHADDUP."
And I thought I was anal about grammar...

(Disgruntled, and apparently very lazy...)
Or perhaps the smiley is addressing a man whose name happens to be "SHADDUP". In all caps.
nd for the purpose of ranting... might I ask, why, exactly, is the smiley smiling while saying this? The only suitable situation for someone to both smile and say "SHADDUP" (in all caps) would be if it's a friendly exchange between one happy party, and another which has just said something embarrassing. However, if this smiley were supposed to show embarrassment, shouldn't it logically have red cheeks?

I think it would be even better with an additional exclamation mark instead of the comma.

That'd work. But I like the comma more.

As a note, even if it was addressing someone named Shaddup, it'd still require a comma.

Maybe I should name my child Shaddup.
or maybe not...
Also, everytime I read the title to this thread I hear the opening riff of Blink 182's "Dammit" Go figure.

I hate Blink 182, more than life itself.
And I just have to point out the very slight humor in this situation: A rant about missing punctuation has as many posts as one about school, despite the fact that more people have a problem with school than they do with poor grammar. Chortle-worthy, huh?
