The rest of the year, I'm not all that crazy about modern-day America. I mean, the civil liberties and affluence are very good, but I just can't get over the stuff we do wrong. I like the 4th because it's a day when I can afford to just put all that aside and be happy for what America does right, the freedom we have, and the potential we, the common people, actually have to change something. It's a day when people are supposed to go back to what America was originally intended to be, to look at the ideas and values embodied by the Declaration of Independence and Constitution, and celebrate the great men who had those ideas so far ahead of their time. So have a good (sort of) birthday , America. I'd only be happier for you if they had actually picked the right date and celebrated the Constitution.
