The problem with taking away guns and replacing them with entertainingly brutal melee weapons is that as soon as someone decides to break the law, they wield tremendous power over everyone else.

Ranged weapons, in my opinion, are practical, not cowardly. While I'd prefer there to be no fighting at all (easier for me to dominate the world, you see), guns are a far better way to do it than with swords. Besides, swords are too easily countered... Damn you, plate mail armor...

I took fencing for two years, and I have to tell you, it's drastically less fun than you probably think. At least, foil fencing is... I'm not sure how good Epée and Sabre fencing are. I've been looking to try the latter, but I haven't been able to find a nearby place to do it. I suppose that's what you get for living amongst a bunch of small towns in MA.
