My Giants suck. So do DA's Blue Jays. Pinata's Cubs are floating around .500. Is anybody here having a good time with MLB this season?
The only thing I can take comfort in is that the Red Sox are in first place, and the Yankees are mediocre at best.

I take comfort in the fact that the Yankees suck as well, but I didn't know the Red Sox knocked my Orioles out of first place. Bastards. Oh, and I'm still having a good time with the MLB because it's fun to watch Derek Lee kick everybody's ass.

I agree. Especially when you have him in all three fantasy baseball leagues you're in.
Which I do.

Well, for one brief shining moment, my team (the Rangers) were in first. But those days are now long past; we are 61/2 out now and about to face the Angels in a four-game series, one of which is almost guaranteed a loss because Bartolo Colon is pitching for the Angels. To give you an idea of how bad it is, we just lost two of three to Houston. I mean, seriously. And we got swept by Philly.
But to be honest, we have one of the best teams statistically. Teixera and Soriano have 20 and 19 HRs, respectively, and are two of the top four in HRs in the AL. Teixera is also fourth in RBIs in the AL, with Soriano and Michael Young in the top 12. Michael Young bats .323, fifth or so in the AL. We commit the least errors in the entire majors. Kenny Rogers has 9 wins and has an ERA of under 2.30, best in the AL. It's a conundrum why we aren't winning our division. Probably it's because Vlad Guerrero can't miss when he's against us and Colon is a flat-out Ranger-killer.

I agree. Especially when you have him in all three fantasy baseball leagues you're in. Which I do. Heh. Lucky bastard. What's the deal with fantasy baseball, exactly? How does it work? I've never tried it, but recently thought that starting a league on your site might help increase activity there. @anima: I picked the Rangers in the baseball pool my father runs. You're right, they have a great team and they should be in first. They need to figure out what they're doing wrong and fix it, though... if you have a team that good and you're still losing games, something is seriously fucked up somewhere.

Bullpen. It sucks this year. That's why we can't win.

Well there are a few reasons actually. While they have two quality starters in Chris Young (have him in every fantasy league I'm in as well) and Kenny Rodgers, their rotation isn't as deep as it should be. Chan-Ho Park gets lit up every time he takes the mound. The bullpen isn't great either. Texas may have the best offense in the majors, but the problem is that they play half their games in a launching pad. Paired with a pitching staff that gives up a lot of home runs, and what you have is a lot of high scoring ballgames. True, the offense can put up 7 runs any day in any park, but when playing home games the staff can give up 8 on any day. They have lost a lot of 10-8 ballgames and scores of that nature.

It's pretty simple, really. Pedro Astacio + Chan-Ho (who somehow manages to be 7-2 .... he surely does love his run support...) + inconsistent Coco + only one true clutch hitter + injuries in the two best set-up men = not very good. I'm actually surprised that we're not 10 games out. Oh, and as for Chris Young on your fantasy league: good move. He's been amazing as a rookie. If he can keep it up, he'll be Texas' #2 guy in the rotation permanently.

He has incredible stuff, a goot fastball, and the help of Orel Hershiser teaching him how to pitch. He's gonna be #1 soon. Him, Johan Santana, and Eric Bedard are going to be the top tier of pitchers in the AL very soon.

I'd say Johan Santana's already there. He's the ace on arguably the best rotation in the Majors, and he leads the Majors in K's by over ten, not to mention the AL by at least 30. I'd also say Halladay is there now; it's a pity he isn't pitching for a better team, because he could be a staple playoff ace.
On another topic, what do you think is going to happen with Roger Clemens?

I say we drag him out back and shoot him.

He's going to be wanted by almost any team in a close pennant race. My guess is he goes to the NL East, since they are practically deadlocked and would love to have an (or another) ace at the All-Star Break to try to pull ahead.

Well there's a week or so to go in the season and as far as I know, none of the teams represented by members at this site are in contention. Yay us. The Giants, Rangers, Cubs, Orioles, and Blue Jays ALL have losing records at this point. What a miserable season. At least I got to see Barry Bonds go upper-deck in RFK. And I won all three fantasy leagues I was in.
The only things left are the Yankees-Red Sox fight for the AL East title, and watching the White Sox give up almost all of a 15-game lead on the Indians.

How'd he do? Did he break any records or anything?
I'm pissed. The Cubs lost to Roy fucking Oswalt. I hate him.
