Probably pretty heavily, though that could be a good thing... so far, I've enjoyed the stuff that Chris has worked on.

Indeed, I liked Children of Hurin, but it was no where near as good as the Hobbit or Lord of the Rings. I tried to find something he wrote himself once, but all I could find is Middle Earth stuff that he edited.

I forgot about this already, until I saw someone post about it on Librarything in their "currently reading" thread. It's out now, and on LT it has an average user rating of 4.8/5 so it seems people are liking it. I'll have to check it out once it leaves the New Releases section in my library.
