Do any of you guys like to go hiking? I hardly ever go anymore since its difficult with a three year old. We do go walk around the state park, but I feel like I'm in slow motion with her.
The other day, though Jeff babysat the little ones, so the big boys and I got to go hiking. There were lots of up hills and downs. The trail twisted in and out of the woods. My oldest was joking that we were entering Fangorn Forest. (yeah, I train 'em up right. ) Finally we got to the end of the trail which ended at a fence and then another trail continued on up for six more miles. We had already come two so it was a four mile round trip. (Pretty good for an old lady. )
Their were views all along the way of the coves and the ocean. I think one of the coves was even called Pirate Cove. I hadn't planned on going so far. We were only going to hike the main trail down to the beach. But then the boys discovered this other trail that led up the hill and into the woods. So, I just wore what I had put on this morning which happened to be a dress, and goofy shoes. Well, they weren't too goofy--they were moccasin type. But tennis shoes and shorts would have been better.
There was a point in the trail where it looked like a maze disappearing into the bushes. Then a branch of the trail led to a cliff where you could look out over the ocean. But some of the cliff had slid away leaving just grey dirt sliding into the ocean way below. It was kind of spooky. I'm really glad I had only the two big boys with me. (I don't really care for heights.) All in all we had a fun time just the three of us.
