Monster
What stupidity drives the world?
What disposition makes a human being
Quail before the terrible wheels of modernity?
Can the monstrous machine be stopped?
Or will it continue to spit out drones,
Mere shadows of life – plop, plop, plop.
Like so many stunted shoots
Incapable of reaching maturity,
Their unique beauty masked by the stench of engine oil.
The human soul trembles and shakes,
It has been whipped into submission,
Beaten into believing that it doesn’t believe;
No god, no devil, no hope.
All that is left is the monster,
Engulfing, devouring, and destroying
