I had to write a poem "praising" a character from the novel we are reading in English class right now... I actually thought it was pretty good.
This man, Son of a woman of stone Who stands steadfast In a broken home
Pacifist at heart Stuck between two opposing walls Torn inside But refusing to fall
He went away to a foreign land When he was just a boy, risking his life Returned home alive Surviving the strife
This strong young man Who then left home, To make a name for himself, All alone
This pacifist Who, should all else fail, Will resist a fight And let cooler heads prevail
This selfless man Who will not say What his heart speaks, Lest conflict ruin the day
So to this man we say Continue resisting the fight With all your heart With all your might

Even though I couldn't agree less with pacifism, I can still see that that's a pretty good poem.
