Yesterday I went to the library to try find something by Robert Jordon, preferably the first in the series. I found absolutely nothing. It could be that he's so popular that they are all checked it out. I didn't check the computer catalogue. So, I wound up ordering the Knight of the Word instead. (They never have any good books on the shelves. lol) Anyway my anticipation is building for reading "The Wheel Of Time". Is it really that good? Is it worth the effort?

The first book starts out kind of slow, but then picks up around page 100. The second book (the one I'm in the middle of right now) is EXTREMELY fast-paced. If you like Tolkien, then I think you'll like Jordan... they're both so detail-oriented.

Ok, sounds good. I suppose that is to be expected. The author needs time to set the scene, and give history, background etc. After that, things can get rolling.

That's exactly what I thought. BTW, where are you at? That might determine why your library didn't have any Jordan stuff... if you're in a small town, the selection might be limited.
Here in Virginia Beach, we have a chain of three libraries whose collections are interconnected, so it's very rare that they don't have what I'm looking for.

Heh, yeah its a very small town. But maybe you've heard of Tillamook cheese? Then again maybe not. I finally found a paperback copy at a thriftstore!

Tillamook... it doesn't sound familiar. By the cheese reference I'll assume it's in Wisconsin, though. Glad you finally found a copy... maybe you can inspire some new discussion on this forum now.
