Let me begin by saying that this game absolutely rocks. I think it even beats out Golden Sun / GS2 for best handheld game ever. What do you think the best party is? Here's mine, and I really do think this is one of the best configurations for a still-leveling party: Marche (lv. 39)- Ninja; Ninja Skill / Fighter Tech / Strikeback / Double Sword / Ninja Combo; Onlyone, Masamune, Charfire, Angel Ring, Dash Boots. Dwight (lv. 39)- Dragoon; Dragon Tech / Monk Tech / Strikeback / Weapon Atk + / Dragon Combo; Peytral, Odin Lance, Dash Boots, Angel Ring, Genji Armlets. Undine (lv. 39)- Assassin; Corner / Spirit Magic / Reflex / Concentrate (learning) / Killer Combo; Onlyone, Silkmoon, Dash Boots, Angel Ring, Acacia Hat. Victor (lv. 39)- Ninja; Ninja Skill / Blue Magic / Counter / Double Sword / Ninja Combo; same as Marche except Bone Plate instead of Onlyone. Montblanc- Juggler; Stunt / Steal / Counter / Concentrate / Juggle Combo; Wygar, Orichalcum, Dash Boots, Angel Ring, Thief Armlets. Lief- Ninja; Ninja Skill / Hunt / Counter / Double Sword / Hunt Combo; see other ninja equip. This is good for leveling. All the classes the chars are at provide the maximum of the most important attribute, as well as the hardest to get: Speed. Once they hit level 50, I'll switch it up to: Marche- Paladin (they get the good weapons) with Chivalry and Fighter Tech. Dwight- Dragoon with Dragon Tech and Monk Tech. Montblanc- Juggler with Stunt and Steal. Option of switching to Gunner with Charge (for Ultima attack). Undine- Assassin with Corner and Spirit Magic. Victor- Hunter with Hunt and Blue Magic. Lief- Paladin with Chivalry and Fighter Tech. Other stuff they have, including equipment, later. I have to do something else now, tho. Until then, on.

Okay. I will explain this in a series of posts (Pinata, please leave them as is; it makes the formatting easier IMO.)
[glow=red,2,300]Current Classes[/glow]
As you can see, all of the characters in this party are at or below Level 39. Thus, they still must be leveled up 11-12 times. If you look at the classes the characters are in, you will see that they all provide the maximum Speed boost for a character of that race per level. The exception is Juggler, but that's a different story.
The reason for this is simple: SPEED IS THE MOST IMPORTANT ATTRIBUTE. Let me say it again: THE MOST IMPORTANT ATTRIBUTE IS SPEED. A level 50 Illusionist with a billion Magic Power and HP will always get owned by a weaker character (soldier, eg) that can move three, often four times faster than it. Speed is also the hardest attribute to be dominant in unless you are an Assassin. Thus, you want your characters to quickly go to classes that provide the best speed bonus, and you want to keep them at those classes until level 50.
The exception to this rule is the Moogle Juggler. Let's face it: in exception to Speed, the Thief sucks at giving stats. Thus, you must go to the next best thing, one that gives well-rounded increases but still gives high Speed: the Juggler. This is ONLY for Moogles.
The classes you want to level your characters at to gain Speed are:
MARCHE: Thief immediately, then Ninja ASAP HUMAN: Ninja (and NEVER Illusionist) MOOGLE: Thief for 5-10 levels (for Speed), then Juggler BANGAA: Dragoon (and NEVER Templar or Bishop) VIERA: Assassin (although Sniper isn't horrible if you need to stall for Assassin stuff) NU MOU: Morpher
Just a note about leveling: Leveling is entirely separate from gaining moves. Whenever you are about to gain enough EXP to move up to the next level and are in a bad class to level in because you're about to get a new tech, screw the AP and go for the good leveling class. It is MUCH more important to have good stats than to have good moves early. That's why there are Dispatch missions, random battles, and no leveling after 50.

[glow=blue,2,300]Current Equipment and Abilities[/glow] If you look closely, you will notice that all my characters have an Angel Ring equipped. This is VERY important. Angel Rings are the most useful pieces of equipment you will ever find. They are also a pain in the ass to get ahold of, so you must use the play-steal-fail tactic in the early mission that has a Black Mage with one to get enough. For those of you unfamiliar: enter the mission, steal the Angel Ring, then immediately quit the mission to keep from accidentally winning. Angel Rings are almost impossible to find anywhere else in the game.
Otherwise in the equipment, there are no big surprises. One suggestion: because you'll be using Ninja a lot for leveling, get an assload of Masamunes.
On to the abilities. For R-abilities, the ones I have listed above are what you want. Marche usually has sky-high weapon attack from leveling at Ninja and getting the good items, so you want him to get a beatdown reation ability. Strikeback fits the bill. In essence, what it comes down to is this: you want a 50/50 split of Strikeback and Counter among the Humans and Bangaas, Counter for all the Moogles, and Reflex for the Vieras. Nu Mous don't get all that many great reaction abilities, so your best bet is Damage->MP. For S-abilities, same deal. Give all your humans Double Sword, all your Bangaas Weapon Atk+, all your Vieras Concentrate [author's note: Last Breath with 95% accuracy is pretty fucking good.], all your Moogles Concentrate [author's note: Concentrate + Thief Armlets = 100% steals and 40%Steal Abilities], and all your Nu Mou's Half MP. Or something, I'm not sure about them. For combos.... if I have to tell you this, Pinata should Modslap you.

[glow=yellow,2,300]Final Classes / Abilities and Equipment[/glow]
Once you reach level 50, the Paladin's horrid speed stops being an issue. Thus, you can take advantage of the Paladin's good points: they can use the good armor and weapons (Excalibur2 and Nagrarok), and they can use Holy Sword. However, their move is still bad. I'd recommend giving Marche the following: [insert good armor], Excalibur2, Nagrarok, Angel Ring, Ninja Tabi. This way, you have the advantages of Paladin but minimize the weaknesses.
Dragoon is easily the best Bangaa class. It levels well, and it gets all the good techs. If you don't like Dragoon, first see a psychiatrist, then switch to another spear-using class and keep Dragon Tech. But you shouldn't do that. Sure, Templar has some good stuff, but nothing like Jump. Jump single-handedly makes Dragon Tech worth existing. It is the best ranged attack in the game. Monk Tech is another no-brainer: it's simply insane. You can heal yourself, revive others, and get subdual attacks for NO MP. Here's the best equipment set: Petryal (augment move), Odin Lance, Angel Ring, Dash Boots, Genji Armlets.
At level 50, the differences between Juggler and Thief vanish significantly. I just like Juggler better. Smile is a must, so Stunt has to be the second ability if you like Thieves more. Steal is also good. It is also good to have the ability to switch to a Gunner with Ultima, cuz that's just ownage.
Corner? DUH. Since she's the last character that can actually use it in this scheme, give the Assassin Masamune100. Concentrate is a must; Last Breath with 95% accuracy is also ownage. Spirit Magic is the next thing you want, mostly because it provides non-dark, non-color magic as well as healing to round out your character.
A Hunter has Ultima. A Blue Mage has Night. Bada bing, bada boom. Choose Hunter as the class because it's weapons are more powerful and they have range. I'm considering Half MP or maybe even Concentrate instead of Double Sword, though; Longbows take two hands anyway.
Sorry, I was high or something when I wrote this. Instead of a human, you want a Nu Mou leveled as Morpher. Then, make it a Sage, give it Alchemy Skill as secondary, or maybe Illusion Magic if you're low on other magic, give it Reflex and Half MP, give it a beatingstick mace, and turn it loose. That gives your team a major magic threat and thus makes it more balanced.
