So I got roped back into DII again. Picked it up one day because I had nothing better to do and that's all she wrote.
Goodbye life, hello DII.

I always here about these games but have never played one myself... I'm sure my PC can't handle it, even Warcraft III lags a little bit on 1-player!

WCIII is far more resource intensive than DIIX. If your computer runs WCIII at all, it will have no problem with Diablo II and the Expansion, which can be had for very cheap.

Hrmmm...sounds fun. What is Diablo though, i've never played it, nor have i ever even SEEN anyone playing. I always got the impression (from seeing it on TV) that it was sort of an MMORPG / action-adventure type of game, but wasn't sure. I'll look into it, hopefully my computer won't be an asshat with it. The best game i can play online without alot of lag is Age of Mythology, but i get a little lag with 4-player online games and up, but i'm usually fine with 2-player games. *shrug*

well I usually play Diablo II in Single Player mode, and I do it with a PIII 866 without any problems whatsoever. My video card is really good, but still I don't think you should have a problem. I've played AOM before and I get a little lag, so use that as a reference point for your own system if you wish.
It's a little like Zelda only with leveling up and you can find items when you defeat enemies. Also, you have either 4 or 6 characters to choose from depending on whether or not you have the expansion, and within each character there are a multitude of skills and abilities from which to choose. You get 1 skill point to invest with each level up as well as 5 stat points. THe skill points are used to learn new skills or spells or to level up ones you already have. The sata points are used to increase strength, dexterity, vitality, or energy.

Sounds kinda fun. So it ISN'T an RTS then? >_> <_< I've never played any Zelda games so when you say its kinda like Zelda, i still have no idea what its going to be like. Though it kinda sounds like the Gauntlet games, or, as stated before, like a 1-player MMORPG? (maybe online it is an MMORPG) Oh, and is there a monthly fee to play it online (Like how World of Warcraft has...i think ) Sorry for the massive amounts of questions. I'll stop now...maybe...

Not a problem at all.
Yes, it's a great deal like Gauntlet in terms of the way it plays. Only in Gauntlet there's no items. Items are a huge part of this game. I've never played Everquest or anything like that so I can't compare it.
As for the online component, it's free. Most peole play the online game because they like to trade items, but I play offline in Single Player mode. There's really no difference at all except for the amount of people in the game.

ctually, there's a huge difference between off and online oplay. the people are only one part. Online you have access to vastly more items, better items, and items that can't even be had offline. Also, you don't tend to have to run around leveling up as much, as people will help you, and you can concentrate more on building your character, and dueling, item finding, etc. You can build much better characters online than off, as you don't need to run through the wilderness on your own, leveling and using skill points just to get skills to survive. Online you just have someone help you, or travel in larger parties, and then you can get the specific skills you wish to specialize in.
Online I'm a dueler, but I also build some characters just to help people, mainly friends, and i like to build unique characters from time to time. I also have two magic-find characters, which specialize in finding unique and rare items.
When I get dsl again I'll be frequenting bnet once more on the D2 servers. Until then, I'm perfecting my offline game.

I almost bought the battle chest for this game a couple days ago...but it was $40, which i didn't feel lik spending. Instead i ordered Unreal tournament 2004: Editors Choice Edition for $20. Half the price for one of the BEST GAMES EVAR!!! w00t

I bought this a year or so ago. Lots of fun. Druids are the win.
