ohkay this is where all you politcal suave people come in: My American History teacher is totally anti Bush so when he tells us stuff must of the time it's from a prejudice view. He does tell us he tries to give us both sides but...yeah, anyways i have a question about Powel leaving office. My teacher says he's leaving because Bush told him too. He says Bush is telling, [not asking] many people to leave, i don't remember his reasonings but will someone explain this to me? why would Bush want Powel to leave? I thought he was a good sec of state...Someone in class mentioned how Powel was paraded around as the token black guy, but there is Rice *shudders* and some other black guy but i dunno what he does.

Bush did not ask Powell to leave in any way.

Because people have agendas, and they often believe that the ends justifies the means when it comes to promoting that agenda. That's what the president did with Iraq. The ends, removing Hussein, were fundamentally good, and he used the positive ends as justifications for the means/lying that used to get you into war.
Powell said that he would step down part way through the first four years. This should not come as a suprise to anyone, and there is most certainly no evidence that he was asked to step down. I say this as a left-leaning centrist: the statement that Powell was asked to step down is untrue and verges on propaganda. Anyone subscribing to it has been fooled by extremists whose views do not represent those of the average liberal.

I had heard that Powell stepped down because he wanted to get back to his normal life. Usually, a lot of people leave positions if an incumbent is reelected. This time, it's just getting a lot of press because Bush sucks.
