OK. basically, this game is one of the best arcade-style, 1 on 1 fighting games out there, and its available for all 3 systems, I think. Based on the critically acclaimed Soul Edge series, Soul Calibur II features many of the old characters, some new ones and a special bonus character that's different for whichever system you get the game for.
So, who has this / has played it? Who do you use/not use? What'd ya think? Reviews, even?
I use random select usually, but I prefer Talim, Maxi, Sophitia, and Necrid. I've been practicing with Mitsurugi, but he's a bit more difficult to do well with. Yoshimitsu is pretty good too, if ya do it right.

w00t The game is a GREAT multi-player game, but i think it starts getting a bit boring on 1 player after awhile. It still lasts awhile though, so great game I havn't played it in a while, but i was a beast with Nightmare or Mitsurugi. But i could play with anyone because i always played the 8v8 team battles and chose all random. Oh, and the special characters for each system are... GC: Link PS2: Heihachi (sp) X-Box: Spawn I have it for PS2, so i got the crappy special character I want Spawn, dammit

I played a demo version in a game store once, and really liked it. There was this girl (Ivy, I think)... all I can say is DAMN. Oh, and Ape Killer... just for your edification, you did spell Heihachi right.

Heh, and alot of the chicks in the game are pretty hot Heehee you got that right I have it for Gamecube, so I get Link as the console-specific character. He's kind of average unless you really know how to use his special stuff like the bow&arrow and the bomb and boomerang and such. I tried Heihachi once at WildKarrde's house, and Links a bit more interesting to use, in my opinion. Spawn is just too cool though.

Hey! wut about Tekken?! naw, i liked this game...Tekken is sorta a button masher and with this game you need to know at least on combo or be prepared for a beat down...I wasn't too thrilled about the graphics because Mortal combat: deadly alliance graphics r0cked. but the over all game wuz cool. The chracters were cool and i like picking my own weapons yay!

This game rox. I have it for GC. Given my Legend of Zelda background, needless to say I have mastered (or at least am good with) Link. I also like Cervantes and Raphael, just because of some of the broken stuff they can do. The controls could probably be better, but not with the controller GC has.
EDIT: Oh, and Nightmare is good because of his n00b smashing potential. They can't dodge anything when they first start, and Nightmare is only good if the opponent can't dodge. But under those circumstances, he's amazing.

One of these days, I'm going to have to win the lottery so I can pay the exorbitant rates they're charging for consoles.

Haha, yea. After you get a console though, you can do what I do. Buy the games used at EBgames. Unless I'm REALLY looking forward to a game and can't wait for it to drop, I usually don't pay more than $20 for video games. For example, right now on their website they offer God of War used for $17, Unreal Tournament(the original) for $5, Flatout 2 for $20, Final Fantsy X for $15, X-2 for $10, and XII for $18. All amazing games that you would normally be paying $50+ ea for. You can even buy used PS2's for around $80-$100 ea...I'm just not sure if I'd want a used console or not. Edit- Holy shit, they have Rumble Racing for $5. One of the first games I played on the PS2 and one of my favorites. Dammit, I should've ordered it with Oblivion.
