Ok, so alot of information has been released thanks to the greatest event in the world, E3 *Bows* Here are your choices. I'll try to add some info about each console but all of this is off the top of my head so some of it may be innacurated. Nintendo Wii (pronounced "we") Pros: -Very cheap, no price has been released i don't think but people are speculated arround 150-200 dollars. -Well, thats about it... Cons: -Funny shaped controller -Probably no online play like the other 2 consoles -out-of-date graphics -Not HD compatiable Playstation 3: Pros -Most likely best graphics this time arround -It will feature Blue-ray technology. There is speculation that all DVDs will begin to be released in Blue-Ray format, meaning your old DVD players will NOT play them. The PS3 will, so this will save some money on you DVD player. Cons: Super expensive, arround $600. Will leave a big hole in your wallet or bank account cannot play PS1 or 2 games on this (blue-ray) X-box 360 This time arround i believe this is the one that will be that "middle-guy" like the PS2 last round. Better graphics than the Wii but not as good as the PS3. Mid price range (more than wii, less the PS3). I personally cannot decide. Not all of this information is completely clear and some of it may be false. But i CANNOT decide on a console to buy. I don't want the Wii, I think it will be a huch peice of crap like the gamecube, but the 360 and PS3 are both very apetizing. 360 has Halo, PS3 will have continued God of War games hopefully. Both have GTA so i don't have to worry about that. I really want the PS3 but i'm leaning towards the 360 for its cheapness, and since i don't have an HDTV the graphics differences probably won't be too noticable for me anyways.

Wii is supposed to be backwards-compatible in some way with all Nintendo releases. Not to mention the inevitable Castlevania releases.[/obligatory Nintendo plug]
Other than that? Yeah, Nintendo has fallen quite a bit. I'll still trust their handhelds (aside from the DS... whoever designed that needs to be SHOT), but I think I'll have to go with Sony for my consoles from now on (if I buy any more consoles). I absolutely despise Microsoft.

Right, i forgot about the backwards compatibility of the Wii, but the same goes for the PS3 and 360, both are backwards compaitable, to some extent, so older games can be played on the newer consoles. Of course, with the Wii you are supposed to be able to play ALL previous Nintendo games, which is because Nintendo hasn't made a technological advance in about 15 years. It also means you'll be buying SNES and even NES games AGAIN!! I'm sure they will re-sell super mario as a "classic" game, so you can spend another 20 bucks for it, like you spent 20 bucks for it for you NES and for your GBA and now for you Wii. Oh yea, and Tetris...another 30 bucks for a game you've bought 12 times and could play online for free. I've been looking into the specs of the 360 and the PS3 and i am really leaning towards the PS3. Its is superior to the 360 in EVERY aspect except for price. an extra 100 bucks for all that power sounds pretty damn good to me. Sure i won't have Halo, but i'll have Unreal Tournament, which is just as fun, if not MORE fun anyways. Oh yea, and God of War if they continue it on the PS3 *votes for PS3*

I saw in G4 that PS3 games will LIKELY cost 60-100 bucks. Starting at 100 and then going down in price from there as they get older and whatnot... Fuzzuck that!!! $100 for 1 game? Looks like i may be going back to buying a 360. I only hope Unreal Tournament 2007 is released on 360. I really want to play it and right now its only scheduled for PS3...and i don't want to miss out on it.

Here is the catch though. The PS3 is going to have a blue-ray disc reader, meaning it will be able to play blu-ray DVDs. Somehow these blue-ray dvd things are supposed to be way better or something. Anyways, a blue-ray dvd player will run at arround $1,000. This doesn't make sense because why would you pay that much when you could pay $600 for a PS3 that plays blue-ray dvds? Thats it!! My prediction is that the blue-ray capabilities of the PS3 is going to be the MAJOR selling point for the PS3. Its possible that all DVDs will begin to be produced in blue-ray format, if this is so then all the movie-watchers are going to by a PS3 for movie watching instead of DVD players, which they will also then be forced to use as their gaming machine since it would be sort of stupid to go out and buy a 360 when they have a PS3 in their house.
Honestly though, i really don't know what to think. My brain hurts, damn you sony!!
PS- My original post said "I agree" but then i continued and developed that entire theory while sitting here just now...maybe thats the real reason why my brain hurts. D'oh

Indeed, i never pay more than $20-$25 for a game thanks to the almighty EBgames *bows* Shameless Plug: And you can probably buy God of War their for like...oh, i dunno, 17.99!! Holy shizzat, HURRY!! But still, $100 per game? That means used are going to be what...$70 per game? Thats a bit much for a used game. Although they did say arround "60-100" so hopefully more towards 60 and less towards 100.

Sean, are there any Canadian Movie Galleries? And if so, do you have one near you? The reason i ask is because they sell pre-rented DVDs for extremely cheap. I don't know how much it would be up there, but here they sell them 3 for $25. ...the average DVD costs approximately $20-25...so yea, w00t. And to get back on topic, Nintendo has announced that they will in fact have online play. This is the first time Nintendo has had online play...since the gamecube sucked and all. So really its not that much of an extra because all the other consoles have had this feature already. What makes it a plus is that they plan to make it absolutely FREE. At first i thought it was a plus. Then i thought, what games are you going to play? Mario party 42? Mario Tether Ball? Co-op Mario Pinball? The only game i can think of that would actually be fun to play are the Super Smash Bros. games...but by the time they make the 19th re-make of it i'm sure it will get boring after awhile.

I actually havn't been gaming a whole lot lately either...or atleast not with my console. I expect that to change by the time i get a new console...if i ever decide... *explodes*
I'm just going to wait for the PS3 to be released and see what people say about it. If the games are $60 then i'll gladly buy the PS3. An extra couple hundred bucks for several years of better graphics than the 360 seems well worth it to me. If the games are $100 each though, no forking way.

I will say one thing in favor of blue-ray: although it's effing expensive, it's supposed to hold 50G before layering, 200G after. That's like Metal Gear Solid 5, 10000x longer than MGS4.

Indeed, which means ALOT more content and detail...plus PS3 already has the better system specs so the only thing holding the PS3 back is the price of its games. If they can keep their games at $60 each then i think it will have great sells. If it goes to $100 each they're screwed.
