The Grudge 2 2.5 stars I liked this movie... just like the first one, it made me sleep with the lights on the night I saw it... but when I compare it to its predecessor, I find it lacking. Still, it's a solid PG-13 horror movie, so if you're smart enough to understand the difference between gross and scary you'll like it.
I am getting sick of the jumbled storytelling style, though. Intentionally fucked-up timelines have always been a bad gimmick, but they're particularly annoying in the horror genre, which is usually known for its straightforwardness.
Another example of a film that wouldn't be as flawed if it told its story the right way is:
The Prestige ** I may be too hard on this movie... I'm still pissed off at Christopher Nolan for mangling Batman. But between the jumping around in the timeline, the outrageously hard to understand (and in most cases fake) accents and the better than Batman Begins, but still too much of an extreme closeup camera angles in some scenes, it's not anywhere near as good as I had hoped. There's some good acting here, but it can't help a story that, being told out of order, makes little sense.

Usually second movies are really dumb... but there are the rare occassions when one is actually good! yay!
My biggest pet peeve with a lot of "seconds" right now is, the main characters grew up in the first movie, and the second one takes them back to being little again. God! Come on! Look at all the disney cartoon movies lately... Fox and the Hound 2, puppies, yet they grew up in the first one... Bambi 2, bambi is little again... grrr... dumb.
Note: I haven't watched any of these "second movies", but they're ones that I refuse to see. If they'd have continued the story, rather than ruining the first one, then maybe. So what, I'm a 19 year old who likes kid movies? what's wrong with that?

I was under the impression that Bambi 2 was about bambi being a full-grown deer and the baby deer was Bambi's...umm, offspring? I don't know what the name of a baby deer is...
And the same goes for Fox and the Hound 2...i was thinking that the original fox and hound grew up and had children...not with eachother of course. =O
But i don't really know, i havn't seen either of them...and probably never will... o.0
I bought Jackass: The Movie and Jackass: Number 2 a while ago...when 2 came out. I had already seen the first when i rented it and i saw 2 in theatres, and they were still worthy buys. Although after seeing number 2 it almost ruins the older ones. They seem so...ameteur? Everything is golden in number 2, so all the somewhat lame stunts are even lamer after watching it. My sister bought The Descent. I thought it was going to be terrible. It wasn't the best movie ever...but it wasn't nearly as bad as i predicted. I liked the ending. =)

So what, I'm a 19 year old who likes kid movies? what's wrong with that? Since I'm older than you and like the Ice Age movies, I won't comment. Night At The Museum **** This is one of the best movies I've seen since summer ended (and the two best films of the year, Pirates of the Carribean 2 and Snakes on a Plane, were still out). It's a really good mix of comedy and fantasy. The Good Shepherd ** Again with the fucking jumbled storyline... It's impossible to fully comprehend this movie. Good acting comes close to saving it, but a story this confusing needs even better acting to make it watchable.

Eragon was a huge disappointment for me. To save time, they added a whole bunch of bullshit and flipped shit around. Oh I was mad when i left the theatre. It drove me nuts through the whole movie. Every single thing, I sat there and just went "wrong...wrong...wrong..." that's probably one that I won't be seeing again. I'll just stick with the book. If it hadn't been based on a book, it probably would have been ok. But nothing at all was explained right in the movie. It just drove me crazy. I give it an F.

Since I'm older than you and like the Ice Age movies, I won't comment. Haha, i'm the same way. I seem to like the extremes when it comes to movies. It has to be either overly explicit/rated R, or an animated movie intended for a younger audience. and fuck family comedies. I watched 8 Mile. Ok ok, i admit it...i like it. I couldn't help but take my sisters Eminem CD and rip it onto my MP3 player as well...

I fucking HATE hip-hop (at least most of the bullshit produced after 1992), but for some reason I like Eminem. Haven't seen 8 Mile, though.
Night of the Living Dead **** This never gets old. One of the best films of its timeframe period, and one of the best horror films ever.

Yea, the same here. I hate all hip-hop in general, and even though i sometimes hate to admit it, i like Eminem. ICP aswell, i guess because they are both VERY similar. They produced alot of very crazy funny stuff in the beginning, then they were a little lame for a couple albums, then they both got serious and Eminem and ICP both produced some great, serious and meaningful records towards the end/most recently. But you could never get me to listen to 50 cent. My sister bought the new Texas Chainsaw Massacre movie. Think it was called The Beginning? I'm not sure why it was titled that, it had a 5 minute scene of him being born and another few minutes of his childhood...and then it was just a normal Chainsaw movie... It was good though, but not as good as the last one they made. Leatherface is still the scariest forker ever. The last guy i'd want chasing me. 0.0

Just saw I Am Legend. I don't know what the popular opinion of Will Smith is, but I happen to think he's a pretty decent actor. However, I'm not sure what to say about this movie. I liked it...but it seemed like they tried to cram in alot of stuff in a short period, resulting in alot of it coming off as incomplete. A 3 hour+ movie probably would've been a better choice. It's one thing I hate about movies, they always feel way to short. I didn't want this movie to go off when it did. Still, I'd probably recommend it, I did like it, I just wish it was longer.. I've recently discovered a liking towards post-apocalypse entertainment though, so that may make me a little bias. =P

I'm with you on the post-apocalyptic thing, but I Am Legend didn't feel as rushed as a lot of other movies I've seen lately. I agree on Will Smith, though... he's pretty talented. And the dog gave the best supporting performance since Wilson the Volleyball in Castaway. ;D
Anyway, on to my movie reviews:
Blade *** A bit cheesy at times, and nowhere near as bloody as I expected, but there's some cool stuff here. Good actiony vampire movie, for those who like vampires but aren't particularly big horror fans. I probably would have given it a higher rating had it been scarier, but I still enjoyed it.
The Bank Job 2.5 stars Would have gotten a higher rating if it hadn't taken too long to get to the payoff (it's only barely 2 hours, but it seems like nearly 3) and ruined Jason Statham's claim to fame (martial arts) by filming the single fight scene too close-up (a mistake a lot of directors that apparently skipped film school make). Hold the camera still and pull it back a bit... the audience deserves to know what's going on, especially with ticket prices as outrageous as they are now.
From Dusk Till Dawn **** One of the best of the Tarantino/Rodriguez hookups. Another vampire film that's more action than horror, but tremendously enjoyable and infinitely quotable (I went around for a week afterward telling people I was "a mean motherfuckin' servant of God" ;D). I want to make movies like this one... hell, I want to remake this movie just to pay tribute to it.

The Incredibles **** Fucking hilarious. It's definitely not just for kids, a point driven home every time they show Elastigirl from behind. I'm thinking of getting you a twelve year old stripper for your next birthday, has anyone seen Life Aquatic? I wanted to see it badly...but missed it A friend of mine saw it and she said it sucked.

$4 here, It went up to the outrageious price of $5 for awhile, but the last couple times I went they were back down to $4. I never thought I'd say this, but... I wanna move to Ohio. Seriously, at first-run theatres (we have a $1.75-a-ticket second-run theatre) in my area, you're lucky to find ticket prices under $8.00. I don't know if it's like that throughout Virginia, though... PF, you live pretty far away from me. What are ticket prices like in your area? Also, PF, I agree with your friend that The Life Aquatic sucked. And you should definitely post in the TMNT board here.

Kids.....$8.50 Adults.....$10.00 Senior....I really don't give a fuck about that.....I worry about it when I reach that age.
Ok....whatever about the TMNT. I would so really be in a theater if they made Labyrinth 2, again starring David Bowie. He is hot!!!!
